disorder. Her TSH levels are very low indicating hyper thyroidism. However, she is very heavy, and has gained an additional 35 lbs in the last 3 months. One of her *freinds* told her that was a sign of a brain tumor! We are all freaking out, anyone out there have any thoughts?

disorder, but her tsh levels are low, so she should be loosing weight, which is characteristic of hyper thyroidism. Shes gained an additional 35 lbs very quickly, which would be indicative of hypothyroidism. someone told her that a certain type of brain tumor could give false TSH levels, and make you gain weight. There is a history of brain tumors in the family also.

A thyroid condition can lead to weight gain. Weight gain, I don't believe is a sign of a brain tumor, especially when she has already been diagnosed with hyperthyroidism

Don't worry, when I was pregnant with my daughter I had the same diagnosis (almost 9 years ago) No brain tumor in sight!
The best thing during pregnancy is not to be stressed, so make sure to tell her to relax and enjoy, good luck!

It is called present/Post partum Hyperthyroidism. Ihad it with my son. She just needs to be monitored closely for it due to increase in heartrate. After the child is born it will slowly peter out, mine took a year...no tumors.
