Where can you buy imported pistachios? Which have the best flavor?

I was wondering where I could buy imported pistachio nuts. I was reading an article in Gourmet that stated that Iranian pistachios were best, is this true? If so, where can I buy them online in the U.S. Also, the article recommended Turkish pistachios? Does anyone know which varieties (e.g., which kinds) have the best flavor, and where I can obtain these. Thanks so much in advance!! Brittany

I am Indian but I think the best are Persian pistachios!
Havent had the Turkish pistachios, I havent seem them in them anywhere here.

If you have access to a Persian/Iranian store, or even a Middle Eastern, Indian grocery store -- they will carry them (but not in any flavors).

Trader Joe's carries a great Chili Lemon flavored pistachios (they are addictive too!), gourmet pistachios can be found at Harry & Davids. But Whole Foods carries them in bulk.

By far, the best quality & value will be at an Indian, Middle Eastern or Iranian ethnic market.

PS: if you totally love pistachios, you should try Indian pistachio ice cream and also saffron pistachio ice cream
(pista & kesar pista respectively) -- my favs!

Do you have a Trader Joe's, Bristol Farms or a Whole Foods?
I always forget how friggin spoiled we are here in Southern California since there are so many different cultures with their own markets in just about every city. The best pistachios I have ever had in my life were from India, with dusted with some form of curry spice and hot and fresh from the oven. I am guessing, since the nut plays such a prominent role in arabic and persian cuisine, that any country from the middle eastern regions are going to be producing grade a product....

mmmm..roasted pistachios on gelato al lemon!!!

I think the best pistachios are grown right here in the USA in Arizona
