The American Heart Association advises against coconut oil in fods, as its high saturated fat content is detrimental to cardiovascular health and promotes heart disease. As diabetics are at greater risk for heart-related and cardiovascular problems to begin with. I, personally, wouldn't use the stuff. But, it's entirely up to you. You might want to talk to your doctor about this, though, and not rely on Yahoo Answers for medical advice.

Coconut oil is one of the few non animal fats that is NOT good for you. You should stick to poly and monounsaturated fats. Olive oil and canola oil as well as nut oils are all good choices.
