i have a cough for 4 days now. i have some congetstion in the lungs. i had the flu and the pneaumonia shot. i am a diabetic with congestive heart failure. I am 64 I am trying to get more rest, drink fluids and using cough drops. anything else?

Please see your physician. If you don't...at least call the nurse with your symptoms. You are so smart to get the shots, but they don't prevent every strain. Congestion in the lungs is serious. Do not make light of it.

The best thing I ever found to shorten the duration of a cold is this thing called a neti pot, it looks like a genie lamp, you fill it with water and salt and pour it into one side of your nose, all the water and congestion comes out your other nostril, I know it sounds horrible and I didn't believe it until I tried it. Other than that drink plenty of water, stay away from juice because it contains sugar and stay away from dairy because it contains lactose. Take an antioxidant like Vitamin C or Green Tea

Zicam, but it may not work after 4 days. Take a vitamin C supplement.
