Ok, stupid question and kind of gross. I've had a the feeling of needing to clear my sinus for the last month, my doctor says its a sinus infection, nothing comes out if if i take meds. I also feel pressure in my head. I'm worried that its something more. Has anyone else had this problem. And will it eventurally go away. I sometime think I make it worse by worring about it.

Yes, I've had the same condition for the past 6 weeks or so, ever since the weather got a lot colder. I think it's the dry heat. Sometimes my head feels like it's going to explode; then my nose starts running and the headache is relieved. Sometimes I feel a little dizzy, when the head is really full.
Are you drinking lots of fluids and increasing the humidity in your bedroom at night? You can try some warm compresses alternated with cold compresses when it gets too uncomfortable.

If you start having other symptoms like a bad headache that can't be relieved, or memory and concentration difficulties, then you may want to go back to the doc. In the meantime, try not to worry; it's that time of the year and lots of people are complaining of the same symptoms!!

Yes, this does sound like a sinus infection. You may need to go to an allergist in order to pinpoint the complete problem and get some medication which will help with the pressure feeling.

It will go away, but it will be a lot easier to deal with if you can get some medical help.

I have had sinus problems and allergies for years, and am quite familiar with the pressure feeling in my head. You can make the feeling worse by worrying about it, you can build up a tension reaction in your neck and head which may lead to a tension headache.

When I feel the pressure feeling building with weather changes, I take a dose of Excedrin Sinus, and that helps me greatly. You will want to check with your doctor before taking any over the counter product.

Standing in a steamy shower will help break up the infection, and running humidifiers in your house during heating season is important. There are little humidity meters you can keep in your house to check the level of humidity in order to be more comfortable.

Good luck, I hope these suggestions help.

The previous answer is good - go back to your doctor and let him/her know what's going on and that the meds haven't helped. It is also possible that you are have an allergy to something that is manifesting itself as a sinus issue that developed into an infection. You may also have an infected tooth which can also be mistaken for a sinus issue.

Before worrying too much more, go back to the doctor and get some stronger meds, eat healthy, get plenty of rest and stay hydrated. If the stronger meds don't work for some reason then you can start exploring other options.

If it is a sinus infection you need antibiotics to clear it up. If the first set of antibiotics didn't take care of it you have to go back to the doc and get a different antibiotic. There are times when one antibitoitic just doesn't work for you and you need a different one. SInce you are still having problems go back to your doc or at least call him and report this. THe doc has no clue you are still having sinus problems if you don't tell him.

You have to take medications like Sinutab or even Benalyn to thin the mucus. Make sure you take it as directed for the pain and to start the drying (thinning) process.
Take hot steamy showers or put a towel over your head to breath in the hot steam, humidify the room your sleeping in, helps too. Blow your nose as much as you can without causing a lot of pain (usually after the steam helps).
Sinus infections are painful (feels like your head is going to explode), if it doesn't get any better or your face starts to swell, go back to the doctor for antibiotics.
