What type of foods can you cook with it and are their differences in the pastes? Also what brand is the best? I also like the sweet taste of bean paste in certain dishes, what can I buy to add to meat that will make it taste sweet?

My wife is Korean and she and her mom mix it with equal parts Korean red pepper paste to make a paste marinade for pork, add a drop of sesame oil (the good kind) and mix it with the thin pork slices you get at the Korean market. Then you can either broil it or pan sautee it.

The next thing to do (and this is a must) is go to the market and buy a bunch of different kinds of lettuce to wrap the pork in. The basics are endive, romaine and sesame leaves.

Take a small piece of cooked pork and wrap it in these leaves kind of like a taco. Add a little more of your sweet/spicy bean paste and pepper paste mixture, a small bit of sticky rice and wrap it up like a little Korean taco. Try to put it all in your mouth at the same time...it isn't rude.

Absolutely my favorite Korean food.

make with pork or chicken, but pork is better. cut pork in chunks. sautee some onions and garlic, add pork, salt, soysauce, and the paste. cook till done and serve with rice. you can also add veggie if you like before the meat is done.
