I typed oval dinner plates into yahoo search and came up with pages of them...try that.

Oval plates are generally referred to as platters. I've looked for oval dinner plates and while I found some oddly shaped plates, none of them were oval.

Most grocery stores have them. They're the oval cardboard-strength. They're a little more pricey and don't come in huge quanities. The store will probably only have one brand. Good luck!

i just bought a set in Homestore + More they were only €12.99 for 4 plates 4 bowls and 4 mugs

I have seen and purchased them from large food chains like Kroger, and Meijers in the Midwest.
They are normally heavy duty and hold up well.

go to a restaurant supply store , You may even be able to find them used at the same place
