How 'bout an ex-Houston resident? Try Signature Kroger since they have that 'natural' section by the pharmacy. You'll normally find the Ener-G replacer there and a few of the most commonly available things. They usually have tofu, LightLife and other such items in the produce section and they normally have EarthBalance and the Tofutti sour cream and cream cheese in refrigerated sections there or mixed in with the dairy products.
If you're south of the river (actually it really doesn't matter, go anyway) there's a really good health food store in Pasadena near the old Sears (I think it became a Wal-Mart). If I remember correctly it's on Southmore street (the east-west main drag). Lot's of good stuff and they aren't averse to making special orders for you (at least when I was around there).

East Houston is almost as veggie unfriendly as where I live now! At least you're several hundred miles closer to Quin Yin and Udipi Cafe over on the west side!

Oh, don't waste time fighting traffic to visit unWhole foods or HEB central market. I checked them both out a few months back when I was down that way. They are both totally WORTHLESS! You'd be better off driving down to the big regular HEB in Friendswood.
