There are several factors that cause fungi to thrive, the warm moist environment that tight underwear creates is just one of many factors. Other factors are using antibiotics, poor hygiene and hormonal changes. Combining tight underwear with any of these factors will increase your chances of getting an infection.

But generally speaking, wearing tight underwear alone won't give you an infection

Tight underwear go up your butt. And that sucks just as much as the infection. And people laugh at you when you pick your butt all the time.
