I was doing it with a prostitute yesterday and my condom burst, I didnt realize until 10 - 15 seconds later. So I have a couple of questions

1) I am screwed arent I? Cause I may have been infected with AIDS
2) How long should I wait before being tested to know for sure if I contracted the disease?

You have only a small chance of catching HIV even IF the prositute was HIV +. Chances are she was not.

A single HIV test in 3 months will prove you don't have it.

Over the incident you mentioned above, you were in a risk of contracting HIV. HIV is a weak, fragile, different to transmit virus, and moreover from a female to a male in a heterosexual intercourse, according to the difference in mucal membrane area, which is the perfect medium for HIV to penetrate and target CD4 cells later. Odds are in your favor no doubt, but you still need to test, but I fully expect you are HIV negative.

Concerning HIV testing; despite the fact there are many types of tests, but only anti-bodies test "ELISA" is considered as the most conclusive test.

ELISA test should take place 13 weeks after a potential exposure, although most people who contracted HIV would seroconvert "change from negative to positive status" during 6 weeks, but 13 weeks is the guaranteed time in 99.5% of cases.

ELISA negative result, when done after the window period "13 weeks according to CDC" is conclusive, while it is still possible to produce a false positive result in some few cases, and then ELISA test must be repeated, if the new result came to be negative, then it's negative, if positive again, then another more HIV specified, and yet more expensive test, called "Western Blot" must be done, and if WB said it's negative then it's negative, if positive, then an HIV infection is confirmed, and patient must consider monitoring his/her viral load and cd4 cells count.

In the most simple words, your risk was too low, and I personally expect you to test negative, but just remember to get an ELISA test after 13 weeks, and also remember to use water-based lubricants i.e. K.Y with latex condoms EVERY TIME you have sex. Condoms have been proven as almost 100% protective method and a perfect barrier against HIV.

you should have blood tests and swabs taken right away, and again in 3 months for HIV, and in another 3 months for HEP C. if there is a strong chance that you have contracted HIV, you can go on antiretrovirals for a few months- this will ensure almost 100% guarrantee that you won't contract HIV.
a lot of prostitutes are very meticulus about prevention against STD's- its a 2 way street- the prostitute should also be getting tested in case he/she has contracted something from YOU.
if the prostitute is from a brothel, there is a better chance that he/she has regular STD screening, whereas one from off the street may not do. don't risk your health and don't be embarrassed, go to your doctor ASAP, and enquire about starting antiretroviral therapy. good luck!

Hate to sound like a prude, but safe sex is in your own hands. Nothing works like not getting any. You may have a better chance of not getting an STD with a prostitute than with your sweet girlfriend (trust me). Prostitutes are more aware of the risks than are the general public. Certainly so if the prostitute is working in a licenced house. As long as prostitution is illegal the risks of STDs from them will remain higher than if they are organized sex workers.

1. If you were with a prostitute, condom or not, you took a stupid risk, and now you have to live with consequenses of your actions.

2. Why a prostitute? There is such a thing as masturbation you know, and even that isn't enough, where is your lady or Wife (or if you are gay, Man?)

3. You should get tested for all STDs NOW!

Get tested now! Also, see your primary physcian because there are drugs available that can lesson your chances of contracting the disease even if the person was HIV positive but it has to be taken within a couple of days to be affective

If you are having sex on a regular basis with multiple partners you should get tested for STDs and HIV on a regular basis. How do you think she feels? Did you even get her name to let her know if you did test positive?
