i know you can get a cold sores aka oral herpes. also you could transfer blood born diseases like HIV (but that is supposed to be very rare if not impossible right?) are there any diseases transferable through saliva that are very dangerous? obviously mono is one but say you already are immune also things like meningitis but if thats the case its a fluke you cant really assume people are walking around with meningitis. all this being said are there any other significant health risks to making out with someone you dont know very well?

HIV transmission is probably pretty rare, since it's tranmitted in blood and not saliva there would need to be an open cut in your mouth and your relative stranger! The most commonly transmitted disease is probably glandular fever (or infectious mononucleosis), better known as "kissing disease". This is a part of the herpes family that presents wiht swollen neck lymph nodes, high fevers and flu like symptoms, people with a healthy immune system should get over the initial insult in a few days but glandular fever stays with you with life laying dormant in your body's white blood cells. It may reactivate at any time and the chances of you passing it on to another partner is almost 100%

ITS NOT THAT IMPOSSIBLE TO GET IT. JUST MAKE SURE THEY HAVENT HAD ORAL SEX WITH SOMEONE WHO HAS IT. EVEN IM SMART ENOUGH TO ASK WHO THEY HAVE BEEN WITH IN ANYWAY AND HAVE THEY BEEN TESTED RECENTLY FOR EVERYTHING (NOT COUNTING HPV CAUSE MALES HAVE NO TESTS FOR THAT) THE WORST THAT CAN HAPPEN IS HIV!
