I've woken up the past 2 mornings coughing up blood. Its never happened before but I am not coughing up huge amounts. Should I be concerned, or could I have just had a bloody nose in the middle of the night and it had just run back and I had to get it up. I have been coughing deep(sounds like croope) for about 2 weeks. I am a young adult who is in recovery from an E.D. (ana).

Recovery from an ED?? Not sure what you're abbreviation refers to.

Anyway, I would get a TB test. You could also have a lower lung infection (as opposed to the common upper respiratory infection). I would definitely see a doc. TB and infections are both very common reasons for the bloody cough and they both should not be discounted.

Just noticed your additional details...I wouldn't suggest anything different in light of your anorexia. If you were purging, I would consider Barlett's syndrome (ripped esophagus). So, yeah, I still think you have either TB or a lower lung infection.

See a doc soon. You don't want it to get worse or give it to others. Don't want to have to deal with something more serious on top of what is entailed in your ED recovery. Glad you're getting help for the ED. Good stuff!!

Well, I don't know what E.D. stands for, but coughing up blood is serious and is never good, go see your doctor immediately, or possibly the ER, especially if you have a deep cough for two weeks and you're recovering from a recent illness. Good luck.

If you are coughing up blood that is foamy, it is a serious emergency - call 911 or have someone drive you to an ER. Quit reading.

if you have a sore throat and cold, and are coughing up mucus with a little blood in it, its not an emergency, but you should probably see a doctor in case of TB or pneumonia.

If you are coughing up blood that lacks mucus, may or may not have clots, and it is not foamy, then you need to see a doctor in the next day or two - this is a symptom of several different things that should not be ignored.

Coughing up blood is serious so you need to see a doc about this ASAP.

should you be worried? is that your question? not at all. i wouldn't start worrying until i start seeing parts of my lungs coming out into the commode in the mornings. then get on the yahoo questions and see what the best answer is for "seeing lung parts in toilet" while you are waiting for an answer you might just casually get an opinion from a health care professional
