For the past few weeks I've had a bad cough (I just recovered from the flu) and I though about going to the hospital because my neck felt tender and my upper back felt sore. She told me to wait two days, and then we'd go if I was still having pain in the same area.

I had difficulty falling asleep last night, my stomach has been hurting all day, I've been having sharp pains below my ribs (right side, same side as the back pain) and I cough so hard my head hurts because it feels like my brain is bouncing around in my skull. ]:

I also can't seem to burp because everytime I do I nearly throw up.
And lastly, when I breathe in it's either all rattle-sounding because of the mucus in my throat or is sounds like wheezing or something, and it makes my throat itchy when I take deep breaths.

Please help.. Thank you.

I feel your pain...

Normally, I would recommend an ill-tasting home remedy that my mom gave us as kids...warm milk with melted butter (and, YES, it tastes as gross as it sounds) -- for a sore throat and/or cough, it usually worked.

I had the same problem you're describing not long ago. I left better in a chair (a recliner, though not set back completely) OR propped up in bed with lots of pillows. My ribs ached and my back ache, and I thought my head would explode. I had violent coughing fits. You really do need to get a prescription cough medicine as soon as possible. I don't want to scare you, but after several days of coughing like this (and scaring the hell out of my husband and kids), I developed blisters on my throat!

I hate taking any kind of unnecessary medications, but sometimes you just have to concede.

I hope you feel better soon!
Debbie

Buy some horseradish and garlic tablets from your supermarket or health food store. Don't worry you won't smell of garlic as it is odourless. I'd still get and see a doctor though, in case it is something more serious than you think.

I had something similar to this, and I took Mucinex for it. It clears up all the mucus great. I would highly recommend this.
