sex can change the outcome of a pap test BUT it wont make it positive for HPV. Go back and get the re-pap. If your husband is the only person you've had sex with, and you do have HPV, it came from him. HPV isn't scary as long as you go to the doctor. Pap smears can now detect HPV, the virus that causes cervical cancer and they, more importantly, find changes in the cells on your cervix BEFORE it turns to cancer. The re-pap will see if you do have HPV or if it was a false positive.

If the next pap is also positive, you will have a colposcopy which is totally painless and the doctor looks at your cervix through a microscope (it looks like binoculars on a stand that examines your cervix while your legs are in the stirrups). If the see an abnormal area on your cervix they will take a little pinch of it to send to a lab to test for abnormalities.

Lots of women get HPV and have all these tests done.
You'll be fine...

Many people have HPV without even knowing they carry it. It's not at all uncommon. I don't believe sex can change the results of a pap test. Be sure to follow up.
