A strict vegetarian, a vegan, avoids all foods of animal origin, including meat, poultry, fish, dairy products, and eggs.
Lacto-vegetarians include dairy products in their diet. Lacto-ovo- vegetarians also eat dairy products and eggs.
Pesco-vegetarians eat fish, dairy products, and eggs along with plant foods. (We believe this is the healthiest diet for most people).
Finally, there are semi-vegetarians, who cheat a little and eat a little poultry along with fish, as well as dairy products and eggs. Most veggie lovers are not strict vegans.

sweetie, there is no mystery to it. You simply dont eat meat-mostly red meat and chicken and turkey and pork. If you chose to eat fish, you would be called a pescatarian. You can eat all of the other stuff you are used to, and add some new things like beans and grains to get your protein from. Soda pop is fine, though it is not very good for you. If you are doing this because of the way animals are treated, then simply do not eat meat, or things that contain meat by products (like McDonalds french fries-they have beef tallow in them) homemade or restaurant fries are fine. Talk to your parents about this, but make sure you have some good facts on hand first. Ignore the meat eating people who will come on here and tell you you MUST eat meat. You do NOT need meat. My 12 year old daughter is vegetarian, since she found out about the animal cruelty and is a healthy, happy, honor roll student. She eats better foods now than she ever did before. If you want advice from her, or me, feel free to email us. Ignore the bad advice from those who do not know what they are talking about, ok?

good for you for wanting to become a vegetarian! vegetarians cannot eat any of the foods you listed except for eggs and some don't eat eggs either if they don't want to. i don't see why a vegetarian couldn't drink pop because i drink it all the time. there are no animal ingredients in it. i would suggest that you do some research first so that you have a good diet plan in mind. a good website is http://www.goveg.com/vegetarian101.asp because they have a list of foods and recipes that are vegetarian and taste good and will send you a free vegetarian starter kit if you want one. good luck! =)

Hey, good for you for thinking about issues like the treatment of animals.
Everybody makes a different decision on how they want to be vegetarian (eg: some eat eggs, some milk, some neither), and usually for different reasons.

You should do some research on how you can cut meat out and stay healthy - its really not hard. Go to:

Good luck making the right decision for you

Cows
Pigs
Lambs
Zebus
Fish
Tuna
oysters
clams
lobsters
crabs
etc.
chickens
bunnies
deer
squirrels
sheep
zebras
**** erectuses
dolphins
bears
etc.
etc.
etc.

Some choose to eat milk, cheese and eggs. Vegetarians can eat those, but not all do.

P.S. There is no such thing as a fish-eating vegetarian.

pps. Vegetarians do drink soda. If it is an animal, don't eat it. Simple as that.
:)
Your sister could have been talking about vegans because they have many many things they do not eat, but she is still incorrect because even vegans can drink soda.

vegetarians do not eat anything that once had a FACE.. so no fish, poultry , red meat , pink meat , white meat etc etc etc.. soda pop is vegetarian although not particularly healthy for you .. you need to eat lots of fruits..vegetables..they sell many vegetarian meats at the regular supermarket ..morning star farms is a good place to start ..you will find in the frozen section..or ask at customer service..boca also makes vegetarian meats..these are made from soy..so very high in protein.. they have veggie burgers..veggie dogs...veggie bacon..veggie sausage...veggie unchicken wings and so on...they will give you the protein you need without killing animals...also eat beans, lentils, peanut butter for your protein...add your regular green veggies, salad, carbs and you are cooking..good luck

Vegetarians don't eat any animal. No fish, no chicken, no crab, lobster, ham, turkey or any meat.

Vegans don't eat anything vegetarians don't eat and animal products like eggs, milk, butter, cream etc. If you ask me being vegan is redicualous because it doesn't hurt a cow , for instance, to get milk. I mean that's toatally redicualous!!

If you don't eat meat you won't grow and could get very sick though.

Vegans don't eat meat or anything that is made from an animal...chicken, pork, beef, seafood, eggs, cheese, milk. Vegans also don't wear or use products made from animals parts....leather, wool, silk, etc.

Pop is just a bunch of sugar....
