And does anyone know of a good place to buy it in Southern NH/Eastern MA? My fiance just moved here from overseas and we are having a hard time finding it. Thanks!

No, it's not the same thing, but most Muslims will eat kosher food in the absence of halal meat.
We order our meat online from myhalalmeat.com. The quality is GREAT, price reasonable, and they have specialty meats like soujouk.

No....Kosher meat has a stricter standard than halal meat.
Halal meat has to be a permissable animal, slaughtered with a very sharp knife as to avoid as much suffering as possible to the animal while the name of Allah is recited. It also should have not been fed vegetarian feed.Islamically it is prohibited to eat any animals that are carnivorus(spelling?)
Since jews have similiar standards, their meat is halal for muslims to eat....They just have more sticter guidelines on kosher than muslims have in order for it be halal.
