My daughter has had pneumonia 24 times. They have ran all kind of test on her at Texas Childrens Hospital. They dont know what it is. We spoil her so much because I feel so sorry for her. But down to the question has anyone had a child w/this condition and what did the doctors do for them.

Sounds like there's something seriously compromising her immune system.

Its also possible there's some kind of allergy involved, causing congestion and trapping the stuff that would normally be expelled from the lungs naturally, thus leading to the pneumonia.

By this time (24 episodes of pneumonia) the lungs will be badly scarred which makes it even harder to prevent recurrences of the pneumonia.

BEST bet I can think of is a very thorough allergy test series. Hopefully that will find something which can be eliminated from her environment to reduce her problems. That may mean MOVING if it turns out to be the TX cedars.... (the cedars being a cause of a lot of allergy problems for people would be the first allergen test I would run.)

I can empathize with you, my daughter who is 6 has pneumonia too, she has been sick since december, no antibiotics are working and she has missed so much school, right know she has this terrible cough, that is not going away. She has lost weight and weighs 40 pounds, I feel guilty, and I spoil her too, because my heart breaks to see her go through this. I am sorry I cant help you, but I will pray for your daughter.

Asthma is misdiagnosed as pneumonia many times in children. It could be that. Or she could have a swallowing problem causing her to inhale food/drink into the lungs causing the pneumonia. That is my best guess not knowing more. Good luck

I would definitely have a swalllow study done to make sure that she is not aspirating ( which could definitely be the cause of pneumonia) I would also have a sweat test for Cystic Fibrosis done and it also wouldn't hurt to have her tested for Lupis and HIV.
