Mary G - great question - asthma does not have anything to do with food that you eat and it does not cause a sour stomach. Gagging is not a common characteristic of asthma.

You would know if you have asthma is you have this type of symptom: Have you ever run a race and your lungs were full of air and you just could not get enough air to breath deep enough and gain as much breath as you needed. You would feel that way without having run a race.

I frankly do not know what you have but you do have some thing that is causing your medical condition but I believe it is not asthma but some thing else and I do not know what it is.

Asthma is episodic and reversible. In other words, it comes and goes and can be reversed with medications. If you have shortness of breath, coughing, tight chest feeling or you feel like you cant breath, ask your doctor for a pulmonary function test to see if you have asthma.

Good luck
