panic attacks can bring on asthma attacks so watch out for that, jus tell them to breathe slowly and try and be as comforting as possible, some people will think they are dying and stuff just reasure them it will be ok

when hyperventilating (breathing in a very rapid and shallow manner), the carbodioxide (CO2) level in the blood decreases. On top of the panic the person is already experiencing, low CO2 levels will make him or her feel anxious as well. A quick way to increase the CO2 level is to let the person breath in a small plastic or paper bag. This will help normalizing the levels in the blood, so the hyperventilation will turn into a more normal breathing pattern.
Tough, it could be of some importance to find out exactly why the person is that paniced. If for instance his pants are on fire, ýou would probibly skip the whole bag story and quickly get some water!

For a start, unless you are walking around with testing apparatus, there is very little difference between a panic attack and a heart attack, if you are a witness to this.
Firstly reassure the person and talk softly, as their hearing will be acute
If the person is aware that they have this condition. they will settle down. If not, a doctors appointment is needed to rule out any other possibilities

The main issue is to keep the person calm. It will pass even though it seems like it will not subside it does. If the person is being treated for high blood pressure, a panic attack could be dangerous if the person is not calm. Just remind him/her to take in slow deep breathes. And it wouldn't hurt to give the person an aspirin if tolerable.

Breathe!
Keep them breathing and comfortable. Remind them it will pass and that it is NOT going to kill/hurt them.
Panic attacks are not dangerous and cannot harm, they are just scary to experience and witness.

I used to have panic attacks all the time and my mother would just remind me to breathe and comfort me, she would be there with me the whole time so that I wouldn't have to ride it out alone. Oh, and it is not dangerous.

OMG you wont choke on your tongue lol.. i have them and have for over 20 yrs.. best thing to do is nice thoughts and relaxations.. deep breathing in nose and out the mouth. once full blown you can get a brown bag and breathe in it for a few mins. main thing is calming down..the feelings will slowly go away.. if your getting them offen see a dr there is meds to control them and meds for when they come on.. panic attacks wont hurt you just make you feel that way.. i have had them bad enough before i had to go to hospital for a shot to knock me out.. it also brought on a asthma attack. .. there just scary.. i have learned over the years to fight them off.. takes lots of practice.. good luck

Slap them or poor water on their face, I know it sounds mean but most of the time it works. No, it is not dangerous it just ups their blood pressure a little too much.
