I haven't slept well for the past few evenings cuz I keep coughing really bad when I lay down but can't sleep if I'm sitting up.Hard to breath that way. No money, no health insurance so I'm asking you all for something that may have worked for you in the past. My stomach muscles hurt so much from coughing. Thanks

Go th health food store & buy eucalyptus oil. Pour a few drops into a hot bath & soak yourself in it. The moisture, combined with the vapors of the eucalyptus, will help you expectorate. You may want to place a towel over your head to help trap in the vapors as you breathe them in.
Another thing to try is to buy some lavender essential oil & have a friend massage you. Seriously. The lavender is known for relieving congestion.
Eat foods with lots of garlic & onions. They contain an enzyme that aids in releasing an anti-inflammatory into the body. Garlic is also a natural antiobiotic.
Drink plenty of fluids.
Avoid mucus-forming foods, such as dairy, processed foods, sweet fruits & white flour.
Add moisture to the air. Either sleep with a humidifier running in your bedroom, or keep a pot of simmering water on your stove during the day.
Apply a hot water bottle over your chest to aid sleeping & reduce inflammation.
To aid breathing, blow up a balloon a few times daily. Seriously.
If your cough is productive, do not use a cough suppressant. Instead, eat foods that are spicy, as they will help your cough be more productive.

Sorry to hear you're not well. I hope someone can help. All I can suggest is to place bowls of boiling water around the room, the steam helps to un-clog your lungs. To help with the stomach muscles, find a large towel, or folded sheet and wrap it around your back. Pull it together at the front or side, whenever you need to cough. It helps to support the back and stomach muscles. Keep warm and get as many hot drinks as possible down you, This also helps to clear the lungs. Good luck, hope you're feeling better soon

You can go to your local health dept. They provide services for individuals with Low Income or No income. You need a Cool Mist Humidifier beside your bed when you are sleeping. During the day spit up any and all phylem you can. Your doctor will also prescribe cough medicines that will help.
