I'm an April baby too. Well, I'm not sure what you're into but this sounds like a great idea:
SPA PARTY!
A few simple touches can turn any place into a spa retreat. You can do a manicure party, pedicure party, makeover party, facials party, massage party—the choices are endless.

The key is that you want to establish a spa-like vibe with green plants, fragrant flowers like lilies and roses, stacks of fluffy white towels and bowls of fresh fruit.

Put out lots of soft pillows and blankets as well as magazines so guests can really feel like they’ve gotten away from it all. Plug in a small electronic waterfall and ditch the lights in favor of candles scented with lavender or eucalyptus.

Tell your guests to bring a big robe and slippers, so they can deck themselves out like they would at a real spa.

Visit a beauty supply store to stock up on nail polishes, face masks, foot and nail files and hair conditioning treatments.

Renting the services of a massage therapist is a luxurious gift for your guests, and those with smaller budgets can buy a foot bubbler (mini hot tubs for your feet) to give your party that decadent spa feel.

You can even give a beauty lesson at your party by teaching your guests to make their own face masks and scrubs using oatmeal, egg whites, honey, sugar and avocado.

Ghana,
What makes for a great party is the interest of the guest of honor. If you are tired of the same ole same ole.... Invest if possible in a party planner that possess the resources to create a themed event in your honor. If a planner isn't your budget, no worries, you can still do it yourself... Whatever you are interested in just plan around that interest. Let's say you have a love of the islands..... Create a birthday party where the guests come in island attire or the menu is totally Carribean..... It doesn't matter as long as you are the center of attention. Believe me, your friends will get into it as much as you will....
Good luck..

A BYOB - Buffet party. I'd have champagne, tons of beer, and really excellently arranged foods. (It's in my nature, I do the work myself.) With my friends and relatives, it'd probably be a game on the TV or country music on the stereo. My last birthday was a blast! Even my 70+ year old uncle got a little blitzed!

It all depends if the weather is nice where you live to have a BBQ outdoor or you could have an Italian night and order pizza and play Italian music on the back ground and decorate your place with an Italian theme , have fun ! and let us know what you have chosen .
I wish you a Very Happy Birthday!
