Consult your vet about it. Snoring happens when the throat relaxes during sleep. You have these little flaps (adenoids) inside your throat that open and close normally while awake but if they are too large , during the relaxed state they will smack into each other causing the snoring sound. This can also be caused if the turbinates in the nasal cavities are too deep. While surgery corrects this in humans (2 of my kids recently had this surgery), I'm not sure if they perform it on dogs or not. I know it can be dangerous in humans and cause sleep apnea and I've heard of it in dogs. So I would consult your vet.

My husband used to snore like a wallowing warthog, it was deafening. Then he gave up drinking alcohol. Now he sleeps as sweetly and as quietly as a baby. You might find your husband a little resistant to this idea and you'll have to try it for quite a while but it's better than open nose surgery or whatever! Good Luck.

1. Get ear plugs

2. Get a sleep study for your husband to find out if there are other problems related to his snoring, such as sleep apnea.

3. Ask your dentist about an anti-snoring appliance.

Most snoring occurs when the person lays on their back. Sew a tennis ball or hockey puck into the back of all his pajamas so that when he lays on his back it makes him uncomfortable and he must flip over on his side.
