You will definitely feel better than you do now. I no longer have trouble with as many colds or sinus infections either so my general health is improving. I developed Polycythemia possibly as a complication of sleep apnea which led to the sleep study. I've also a history of elevated liver enzymes suggesting damage to heart and liver. It took doctors over 20 years to find out what was wrong and I was referred to psyciatrists and counseling and told I was crazy because I felt bad all the time. They had no explanation for hypertension at 19. I know now. If a sleep study is indicated then get it done. I no longer need a nap in the middle of the day and I can drive on long trips with feeling very fatigued.

If it was recommended by your Dr. to have a sleep study, Please do it. The "sleep machine" is called a cpap machine. It allows you to have a continuous flow of air all night. You probably are suffering from sleep apnea and I am sure you probably wake up now tired and continues all day. That is because during you sleep you literally stop breathing therefore you aren't getting enough oxygen to your brain. With the cpap machine wearing it all night, you will wake up feeling rested, and will notice a difference in a few days. Your overall body and mind will be so...much better

Can't say as everyone's airway is different. I started my cpap machine a week ago: for the last 2 nights I had a full night's sleep, which I haven't had in years. I am hoping for relief from my fibromyalgia as this seems to be related to sleep apnea.

Sleep apnea is related to so many other medical problems, including cardiovascular diseases. Anything that would promote good sleep and get more oxygen into your lungs by keeping your airway open has to be beneficial.

It depends on what exactly is the cause of your apnea..The CPAP doesn't work for me as it is my tongue that covers my airway and my lower jaw is sitting back too far. For your sake I hope that the CPAP does work, my aunt uses it and loves it!
