this is done through open heart surgery and generally your baby will be put on by-pass,my son has a condition called tetralogy of fallots and will need this himself soon,he has had 3 operations all open heart as he has 5 things wrong with his his 1st was at 4days old then 3 and 7 mths.this is a worrying time for you and the procedure is very safe but being realistic complications can arise in any surgery.please dont be fazed by the amount of wires etc yor baby will have this is normal i did nothing but cry but kids are wonders and do bounce back quicker than adults, his consultant told me it would take an adult mths to recover from what my son had he was well within 5 days off intensive care and on the cardiac ward.hope this has helped and wish you and your family all the luck with your childs future..xx

there is a procedure called Ross-procedure. in a nutshell it is replacement of the aortic valve with the healthy pulmonary valve. and placing bio-valve on pulmonary position. it is difficult procedure. mortality is 5% or more but if it works the baby will grow with it quite well but will have to undergo open surgery again for replacement of the pulmonary valve which is considered an 'easy' procedure.
