inhaled air does not pass directly from the trachea to the alveoli, it must pass through the bronchi and bronchioles first.
exhaled air contains more carbon dioxide than oxygen.
neither inhaled nor exhaled air passes through the diaphragm. the diaphragm is a large muscle situated below the lungs.
