I have had this problem since 10 months ago. I have been checked and tested for STD by doctors. I was tested positive for vaginal Herpes. According to the doctor I have no longer Herpes for which I was cured by medicine. However, I continue to have the yellow discharge. I can see the discharge on my underwear and when I wipe myself. I have no other symptoms such as pain, itchiness, discomfort, etc. The doctor believes that my Herpes is cured, and that I have no infection. He has prescribed Ketoconazole and Povidone Iodine gel. I have not used them yet as I am not sure if I would benefit from them. I would like to understand why I have the yellow discharge and what causes it.

For further information, I am 29 years old and single. I seldom have sex, perhaps 3 to 4 times a year.

Looking forward to your answer.

First of all, there is NO cure for genital herpes. You can treat the symptoms with antiviral medications and the sores can physically go away, but the virus still remains in your body. There is no cure for genital herpes or any other viral STDs including HIV/AIDS, HPV, hepatitis, and like I said, herpes.

Ketoconazole is an anti fungal cream. You most likely have a fungal infection and that is why your doctor prescribed that particular medication for you. That is also why you probably have a discharge, infections can and usually do have a discharge.

Take the medication as it was prescribed and if it doesn't seem to be getting any better go back to the doctor or even go to a different doctor and get a second opinion. Good luck!

get a new doctor you can NOT cure Herpes. its for life i would say you need to douche with vinegar or peroxide and water on a regular basics if your not clean down there then all kind of things go wrong. sounds like you have a serious V.D and you need to see another doctor.
