Barber blades are safe....because they are usually covered with the plastic clipper guards,,also they should be sprayed with an disinfectant and cleaned between each use.
Straight edge razors for the neck are not safe.. In some states that have been banned because of AIDS and blood borne diseases. If you notice at most barber shops, they do not clean as often as they should. I wouldn't take the risk with my health.

CDC first made statements that the aids virus could live in a syringe for 6 months, it can live in an aqueous solution (water) on your counter tops. My guess is it can live anywhere where blood is involved and I would be leary of any new reports of government assurance that it cant. Bleach kills the virus, be sure an add a couple drops to your dishwater.

they should be cleaning them with a solution that maybe contains some sort of bleach that kills the virus instantly. They also should be using half type blades. you should go to a barber you know is sanitary. You always have these chances I guess and you also get to xhoose what chances you take.

Good question!
Some barbers have a uv type light that sterilises. Dont trust the ones owned by older barbers. Most clean them straight after.

The only way 'd let someone near me with a straight razor would be if it came out of an autoclave. That's right...syringes, razors,
toothbrushes sexual contact; anything that might have serum fluids may pass the virus.

Not safe at all, unless they're disposable razors.
That's what barbers should all use now, unless they want to get sued.
