Over the last couple of weeks i've started getting chest/heart problems which are stopping me sleeping. My heart seems to twinge or jump sometimes which is very disconcerting. I get hardly any pain though, maybe a slight tightness. I'm sometimes aware of it beating too. Why is my heart/chest twinging and jumping ?

Well, if you can't sleep because of them...go to the hospital. I know I've gotten these before (minus pain) but they never kept me awake. Mine are very random and can happen every day for 3 days, or once in a day and not again for another 3 months. I think mine have something to do with hormones because I used to get them more when I was pregnant. I asked my OB about them at the time and she said it was normal. I forgot what it was called though. But if it is keeping you awake, go to the hospital. Better to be safe than sorry. That's what the docs are there for anyways. Even if it's nothing, it will put you at ease. Good luck.

It can be a nervous condition more than an actual heart problem. It may be a slight heart palpitation which is often caused by stress. Millions of people have them and it's rarely life threatening. If you're really concerned or have any pain in your shoulders or arms be sure and see a doctor. You can't be too careful. either way a doctor can help you so go an find out so you're not worrying which can just make it seem worse. A doctor can ease your mind about it.

Same thing here. When i lay in bed. suddenly my heart goes faster for a while. I've also had a history of chest pains since age 13.. And it's bad....really bad. Lucky me i haven't died.
You should get checked as soon as possible. Your heart/chest is twinging jumping because sometimes the body just goes off track. it might be harmless but you never know.

I get heart palpitations "or jumps" all the time but this is common in my family. Most of the time this happens when I have to much sugar. so it might be the same with you. I haven't been to the doctor for mine (because it runs in my family) but if you are worried about it then it's best to go. otherwise you should be fine just try to figure out when it seems to happen to you the most and try to cut back on that cuz it could also be an allergy to something (my aunt gets it really bad when she eats chocolate so she had to quit. good luck!
