Um, this is difficult because popular foods aren't necessarily dominated by country; they're more REGIONAL than political. For example, China is so large that there are many dishes that could be considered quintessentially Chinese; just depends on which part of China you happen to be in. It's the same with the US; the southern regionis known for 'soul food' like fried chicken, cooked greens and black-eyed peas, while the northeastern region is known for clam chowder, brown bread and pizza.
One way to find the regional cuisines is to look at their street food; these tend to be more popular and more indicative of a 'regional dish' than anything else.

For four year olds, perhaps keep it a bit easier to understand. Maybe teach areas around here or places that they've heard of before.
Cuba: black beans & rice
Thai: something with peanut sauce - perhaps just the peanut sauce so they know the flavor
France: potato chips (it's something they might not know)
Italy/Greece: simple olive oil, toasted bread goat's cheese

Turkish food is awesome. Some Turkish dishes include:
Dolma (stuffed grape leaves (or peppers) )
Kofte (Turkish meat patty)
Shish (Turkish kebab)
Doner (Turkish meat sandwich)
Iskender (Turkish platter with meat, yogurt, tomato sauce, Turkish butter, and bread)
Lots of soups, like Mercemek (Lentil), Yayla/Yogurtlu (Yogurt (it doesn't taste as weird as it sounds) )
There are many, many more...Turkish culture blooms!
Sorry, you are on your own for finding recipes, but good luck!
