Your lungs typically will not repair themselves.....when you smoke you damage the air sacks in your lungs, once this damage occurs they cannot be repaired, however your age can be a large factor in this decision, since the longer you smoke the more air bags are damaged. There is alot of controversy over the healing of the lungs after quitting smoking, so far scientifically there hs been no sure cure found to repair the damaged lungs

I don't have any personal experience in this category, but I'm almost positive that your lungs will never completely be the same as before. But if you quit smoking, no more damage will be added to what is already done. I would definitely quit smoking; smoking can kill you!

Im told that they can and do heal quite a bit, but it takes time....it also depends on your age, and how much and how long you smoke...also not everyone who smokes gets lung damage..and sometimes it can take 40 or more years to develope it if you do.

No , you are smart if you quit smoking at a young age. I smoked for 50 years and am feeling it now. I quit a couple of times for a year or so when I was younger and my lungs did not heal

Somebody told me that if I smoked for twenty years it would take 10 years to recover. I quit in 1996. Btw, the thing about food tasting better isn't always true.

once you smoke, your lungs will never be the same. if you stop, your lungs could heal somewhat, but never back to the never smoked before status.

Depends on the length of time, amount of cigarettes you smoked, your age and other factors. Some healing can occur. Keep up the good work!
