(background) I'm a 24yr old male who recently got diabetes. I'm not overweight or your steriotypical adult onset diabetes case. I may have gotten diabetes after my honymoon in mexico where I got sick (some say that certain viruses can attack your pancrease)... anyway
I have recently been exercising a lot. I don't currently visit a doctor or take medication for my condition. I simply eat good & excercise (which seems to work fine). I am only human & do sometimes eat things that I shoudn't, I am wondering if exercising will help offset the negative effects of greasy food or sweets. Thanks for the help!

Yes and no. Depends on how much and what type of fats you take in and how well you successfully burn them off. Best thing is to not mess with this. You can't afford the consequences. Fat (not sugar) is what messes up your natural glucose takeup into the cells. Milkfats especially. I highly recommend reading up on this and taking Dorothy and Toto's advice, along with mine, and stay on a healthy diet including a handful of inexpensive supplements. The more you do now, the more it will pay dividends later. I'm 55 now, and feel better than I did twenty years ago thanks to a good diet, exercise, weight management, and a few supplements. Exercise is an important part of diabetes control, but that alone can't do it. proper diet and, in many case medication are also essential. In a type 2 diabetic either the body does not utilize the insulin produced effectively, or there is not enough produced, so the glucose in the system is not metabloized properly, so diet is important. You can learn much from the American Diabetes Association's website at http://www.diabetes.org, including the myths about diabetes. Hope this helps!
