Yes- if a mom has an std it can be passed to the baby but the baby may not have symptoms at birth. Herpes can be passed on for sure. Women are given prophylactic anti-viral meds before and during delivery to prevent the spread of herpes and a woman who has an outbreak at the time of delivery will have to have a c-section becauase the rate of the baby contracting the disease in such a case is very high

I got diagnosed with genital herpes (type 2) about 4 years ago, whilst I was still attending college and had a stupid one-night stand. I know loads of young women say this, but I swear I had never done that sort of thing before. I just made a mistake that one time and all of a sudden it seemed like I was going to have to live with the implications for the rest of my life. The hardest part was feeling I could never date other men again. In the end, who wants to go out with someone that has sores round her private parts? But since a friend shared this video https://tr.im/gp00h everything improved.
Not only was I able to eliminate all remnants of the hsv from my body in less than 21 days, but I was also able to start dating again. I even met the guy of my dreams and I'm so blessed to write that just a week ago, in front of everybody in a busy restaurant, he got down on one knee and proposed to me!! This method gave me back the opportunity to be happy and experience true love again. Now I hope that I can help others too by sharing this story.

HIV, HPV, and herpes can all be passed from mother to child. Gonorrhea can also affect a newborn's eyes......that is why they put the drops or ointment in the baby's eyes immediately after birth.
