What i am looking for:

need to have lowfat food as my dad got heart problems. Doctor say must not have fatty or too sugary food.

and ambience must be good, cos it is my dad's birthday

and cannot be too expensive, less than $40 per person on weekend. About 10 people attending, so good if it is about $25 to $40.

thanks guys!

Meat is usually "rated" with a fat content. Choose something slow roasted with 10% or less fat (good roast beef). Avoid gravies or sauces. Poultries can be delicious if baked and seasoned with fruit (lemon slices baked on turkey or chicken), but use the white meat. Pasta with marinara is always an option, too, that is lower in fat...use a whole grain pasta for extra fiber. Don't be afraid of oriental style stir fried meats and veggies, but avoid traditional fried asian foods like fried rice, sweet & sour, etc.

If you need a starch on the side, opt for a blend of potato & veggies (no cheese or sauces) like a mashed potato & cauliflower blend or an herbed seasoned rice. Salad is always a good option. Also, grilled veggie blends are so pretty on the plate and require little fats.

Good dieter's dessert recipe: break up an angel food cake (can use sugar free) into pieces like stuffing. Throw them into a cake pan. Toss fresh sliced or frozen thawed (unsugared) strawberries into it. Make the big box of some red flavored jello (again, can use sugar free). Pour it all over the stuff in the pan. Let set up and cover with whipped cream. Everyone loves this stuff.

how about a boiled dinner, fish, with rice, you can make anything buffet style, shellfish, shrimp would be great, rice and a lot of different steamed veggies, wonton soup, crab legs, make a salad bar, you can do a lot with that and buy all low fat dressings but put them in carafes labeled and no one will know the difference, think of all the great things you could put on a salad bar, and then a very simple easy dinner
