Do a pickie starter, dips and veg, olives and roasted nuts with a couple of glasses of wine followed by a huge paella, Easy to put together everyone gets to stir or add bits, more wine. Easy pudding, mix together mascapone cheese with some double cream swirl through some pureed fruit, serve in individual glasses with some nice biscotti type biscuits

Not sure bout the whole thing but portabella mushrooms with a ranch dressing to dip it in has always been popular with my friends over 25. For some reason under 25 friends can't seem to get past the whole "mushroom" part. First dip them in a mix of egg and milk. then roll them in flour. then when the oil is hot enough put them in and start cooking. Lightly breaded is the key then fried in a pan with vegetable oil just get them golden brown. No real recipe just kinda eyeball it. Also I think I would add some curry powder to the flour just to add a little spice. I think this would go good with the chicken mentioned above.

You could do a casserole style dish, like lasagna or enchiladas. You could make your own salad bar. Or build your own pizzas with pre-made mini crusts and a variety of toppings. Just heat up the broiler, and they only take a couple minutes each to cook. In a normal sized oven, you should be able to broil 6 at a time easily.

Hi there, Make spaghetti bolognese its so simple. Just throw in the mince into a pot, fry it with chopped onion for a few minutes, add plenty of bolognese sauce from a couple of jars (Dolmio or Ragu), add some sliced mushrooms; simmer on low for about 20mins. Cook loads of spaghetti......easy and only takes 12 minutes, drain and serve. Buy a nice chocolate cake to cut into nice wedges and serve with ice cream for dessert. Easy peasy, lemon squeasy! Lol!
Have a great time! :o)

An Italian Menu??
Appetizerses
Toast of garlic and tomatoes
Toast of garlic and salmon

Bucatini alla amatriciana
400 g (14 oz) bucatini
100 g (3 1/2 oz) pork cheek or pancetta or bacon
6 fresh and ripe tomatoes, cubed
1 fresh young onion, finely chopped
2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil
45 g (1 1/2 oz) grated sharp Roman Pecorino
cheese
Chilli, if you like
Salt

The sauce can be made with pork cheek, guanciale in Italian, (it's very difficult to find it) or pancetta (it resembles a salami-shaped roll of bacon with a higher proportion of lean to fat; it's a cold meats in Italian delicatessens) or unsmoked slab bacon.
Cut pancetta or bacon into 1/2 by 1in strips. Cook it together with oil in a wide frying pan over medium heat; stir frequently. Keep on cooking until pancetta becomes crisp and lightly browned. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside. Add onion and chilli to the pan and cook, stirring frequently, until onion is soft. Mix in tomatoes and their liquid. Season to taste with salt and cook over a gentle heat for 10-15 minutes or until sauce is slightly thickened. Some minutes before the end of cooking mix pancetta into the sauce.
Meanwhile, cook bucatini in a large kettle of boiling salted water according to the package directions. Drain well and dress with the sauce. Serve with grated sharp Roman Pecorino cheese.
Serve immediately.

For to be faster
- We used 1 can (14 1/2 oz.) Italian-style tomatoes.
- If we use bacon we increase the olive oil. In this case we avoid frying bacon and onion.
We put all the ingredients in the pan and add 2 tablespoons dried chives, 2 teaspoons dried marjoram and 1/4 cup red wine. We cook for 10-15 minutes over a gentle heat or until the sauce thickens. It's tasty even in this way!

omg I do this too - usually when I have had a drink!
A decent curry night goes down well, loads of beer and wine, you can cook 3 different sorts, a chicken, lamb and veg one, just use the cook in sauces if you are not too adventurous and don't want to be chopping and dicing alll afternoon!
Loads of plain and yellow rice (add safron to the water) and put it all on the table - they can help themselves, and they think youhave gone to LOADS of trouble! and a frozen cake and Ice cream, choc mints and coffee to end, and it is all good for not much effort.

Find out what they like and create a theme on their favorites. for example, you have 5 girls showing up tonight and two of them like pizza and one likes spegatti, and the other two like salad, create an italian theme and fix salad and spegatti and for garlic bread, just get regular garlic bread, add some of the spegatti sauce to the top, sprinkle cheese on it, and voila pizza garlic bread. Everyones happy.

Oh man, you are in a bind! You could grill steaks or chicken or burgers and make potato salad. Maybe grilled chicken salad? Maybe you should order pizza? Or you could just do tacos. Those are always fun.
