Yes Cipro is used to treat bronchitis and other similar infections. I would call the doctor's office and ask your question of how many days, just to confirm what you were told. Make sure you take all the pills until gone(It's really important with this drug) and don't take Tums ,Rolaids, etc. while you're on Cipro. They interfere with Cipro.

I once suffered from Chronic Bronchitis. I would suffer sometimes 3 to 4 times per year! Usually when there was a major change in the pressure outside (I live in the north, and the temperature spikes and dips do wonders to chronic sufferers of bronchitis!). Each time I would get horrible hacking coughs, hoarking up green phlegm..it was so frustrating!
The key to getting rid of your bronchitis is to find a way to completely eliminate the germs that are causing all the phlegm and irritation leading to your hoarking cough and heavy breathing. Keep reading to learn how to do kill these germs!!
This page it will change your life and make you feel 100% better within just 24 hours!

How should I take Cipro?
Cipro is usually taken every 12 hours. Follow all directions on your prescription label. Do not take this medicine in larger or smaller amounts or for longer than recommended.
Take this medicine with a full glass of water (8 ounces). Drink several extra glasses of fluid each day while you are taking Cipro. Ciprofloxacin may be taken with or without food, but take it at the same time each day.
Do not take this medicine with dairy products such as milk or yogurt, or with calcium-fortified juice. You may eat or drink these products as part of a regular meal, but do not use them alone when taking Cipro. They could make the medication less effective.
Shake the oral suspension (liquid) for at least 15 seconds just before you measure a dose. Measure the liquid with a special dose-measuring spoon or medicine cup. If you do not have a dose-measuring device, ask your pharmacist for one. Do not give Cipro oral suspension through a feeding tube.
Swallow the liquid without chewing the medicine beads you may notice in the liquid.
Use this medication for the full prescribed length of time. Your symptoms may improve before the infection is completely cleared. Skipping doses may also increase your risk of further infection that is resistant to antibiotics. Ciprofloxacin will not treat a viral infection such as the common cold or flu.
If you are being treated for gonorrhea, your doctor may also have you tested for syphilis, another sexually transmitted disease.
Do not share this medication with another person (especially a child), even if they have the same symptoms you have.
Store at room temperature away from moisture and heat. Do not allow the liquid medicine to freeze. Throw away any unused liquid after 14 days.

It's a controversial treatment, usually used for major depression that does not respond to medication. But all that is something to be discussed with your doctor. There is a hospital near where I live that performs the procedure on a regular basis. Desperate for relief from my Bipolar 1 depressions, I once asked my doctor about getting ECT. I was told that I would not make a good candidate for it. I asked about it being safer than it was in "the old days" and was told that the only thing that's really changed is the sedation protocol.

As a healthcare provider I can tell you that Cipro 500mg twice a day can be given for bronchitis. But I always give a ten day course of that drug at that particular dosage. If you tell your healthcare provider he can call in some more to complete the course.

yes, ciproflaxcin can treat lower and upper respiratory infections and uti's. is the prescription a substitute or is it dispensed as written? I would take it for 7 days. 500 mg is a high dosage. Most infections will clear with antibiotics within 7 days, but if it doesn't clear up within 7 days please call your doctor. Also if you do not feel better within 3-4 days I would call the doctor too. If u have any questions please call your physician too. also put yourself under steam, this will help loosen the congestion and drink lots of water and take cough syrup or mucinex to loosen the phlegm up and take throat longezes to help soothe the throat too.
