They have prawn based flavouring. I know because I have a pack of authentic Chinese ones in front of me. They contain: Starch, Water, Prawn extract (7%), Sugar, Salt. (Ingredients of Gold-Plum Pink Prawn Crackers [Product of China])

"Prawn Crackers is an Indonesian and Malaysian snack consisting of deep fried crackers made of flour and flavoured with fish, prawns or vegetables."

I guess they have traces of fish and prawns. I also know a few brand made with lobsters and some are totally vegeterian. It really depends on the brand that you got. Read the labels at the back.

I don't know where you get your prawn crackers from, but the packet I have in front of me now is "CHIEN WAH" brand and was made in The People's Republic of China. The ingredients are -
starch 75%, prawn meat 5%, water, sugar, salt, flavour enhancer (621).
That last one - 621 - is Mono-sodium Glutamate, often used in China, but to which many Westerners are allergic. If you feed kids with these things, they'll go all ratty and uncontrollable (more than usual, that is) and suffer pains in the digestive tract.

I have never had prawn crackers. However I have had oyster crackers and they are not made from oysters. I have seen dog biscuits and there are no dogs in them. I guess two words being next to each other does not make an ingredient list.

I don't think so, i think you can get prawn crakers from supermarkets that have the vegeterian logo on them. I think prawn crakers are chinese food.
