My Uncle had the same problem 8 weeks ago, (he is 71) so I don't want to scare you, but please call the NHS Direct Help line, to seek proper medical advice, rather than ask on this website, (as you may get the incorrect answer)---

Diabetes is associated with pancreatic exocrine dysfunction. Ketoacidosis can be present but as you have no sticks i recommend you get some asap. It is recommended that you have 4 units of atrapid and drink plenty. However you are not on that and not very familiar with novamix a long/short acting insulin combination. A high BM that quick....with you not eating chocolate is concerning it can also be the result of a hypo so close monitoring required. I would need further information to suggest changes such as is this a regular thing, same time, diet changes, how much exercise. If this is regular I advice you to connect a diabetic nurse specialist where you are registered. OR you could run round the block a few times.
Hope this was of help I am also a diabetic but on actrapid and would administer 6 units and sleep but professionally seek help.

Hey well perhaps its the banana ..have you checked it again since? If your stressed this too can put up your BSL. I'm not diabetic but my mum is..and it's insulin treated also. Just keep an eye on your sugar level, sometimes after it shoots high it can drop low pretty quick again afterwards. If you took it straight after the bananna chances are it was that plus the fact u cud be stressing over it. Relax...if it still remains high phone an out of hours doctor or if you have the number of your diabetic nurse ring her tp put your mind at rest. in the Morning ring your Gp clinic and get more Ketostix.

Im sure it's nothing to worry about, BSL can be very hard to control and sometimes shoots high or low for really no reason.

Do three things.

First, discuss it with your doctor.
Second, while you wait for the appointment, read the advice on the link in the source url below.
Third - fruit can be good, but bananas send my BGs through the roof. It would appear that they do that to you too.
