Do males go into medical assisting?

(I'm a male) I have often thought about majoring in that, but I get the feeling that something isn't right about something since I never really see any men in the business, unless I haven't noticed.

Working as a medical assistant is a very very entry level medical position and the pay is low as well. Pay is probably the reason you don't see many males doing this since they often have families to support. I would suggest going a little higher up by looking at LPN training or being a paramedic.
