Hi everyone. I will be 25 weeks pregnant on tuesday and I started having chest heaviness tuesday which turned into a cough and wheezing. When I lay down it is hard for me to breath cuz my chest is heavy and the wheezing constantly makes me want to cough. The cough is dry and the outside of my throat itches and also my ear. Any ideas? I can't really afford an unnecessary hospital bill.

This is not an unnecessary bill. Anything that affects your breathing affects both your and your unborn child. Screw the expense. Call your MD immediately, explain your symptoms and demand to be seen. If you've gotten worse go to an urgent care center or emergency room to be seen. It could be as small as an ear infection with stimulation of the bronchial tubes to full blown pneumonia. But you don't know. Get off the computer and have someone (other than you) drive you. I think the low oxygen levels are affecting your otherwise good judgment.

First be carefull and not take anything over the counter unless your OB approves it. THe best way to loosen the mucus is steam,, if you want to clear your lungs lay on your side. have someone or you pat your other side for about 10-15 seconds then cough and you should be able to bring up the phlem.
Good luck with your baby.

Make a tent over your head with a big towel and put your head over pan of simmering water with Vicks melted into it. Breathe deeply for as long as you are comfortable with. The initial shock to your nose might cause you to sneeze more and your nose will be very runny but if this steam can make it into your lungs, the relief will be immediate. If there is any phlegm there it all, this will make it come up. Would not hurt to keep a big pan of this mentholated water simmering on burner just to keep essential moisture in house. Good luck and God bless you and your babay.

This doesn't sound good. Go to your ob-gyn. You may need some medicine to get the gunk out of your lungs.
