Soy milk is fine, if he can drink it without any problems it is actually better for him that cows milk. I had put all my boys on soy milk at a year old. and they are all fine.
Soy has more calcuim than cows milk and lot more vitamins including omega 3 , vitamin d , protien, fiber . It is very very healthy and very yummy too. You can also try for like ice cream if you want called so delicious it is to die for . My son is allergic to dairy he gets hives. So I cannot give him any dairy products at all. After scanning many grocery stores for a ice cream alternative i found so delicious and it was a winner. If he has sensitivities to dairy just give him soy or rice milk .

I would avoid the soy, if I were you. 90 percent of the soy in the US and UK has been genetically modified with lots of nasty stuff and is the cause for the rapid rise in food allergies, especially in children. These allergies are often misdiagnosed as various illnesses. I developed a severe allergy to wheat, eggs, and dairy, by consuming modified soy (I didnt know the facts, and had no idea what modified meant) Rice milk, especially if it is homemade (very easy) using organic rice should be fine for your baby. It is likely that your 3 year old is reacting to the toxic stuff in commercial milk. I am highly allergic to commercial dairy, but I do fine with raw dairy, which has not been laced with steroids (vitamin d) and other nasty things. Google raw milk for more info. It is likely your kids could consume raw dairy with no problems

Well first breast milk is good. SO maybe you should do that for another month and then see how it goes. You have to look for specially designed soy milk for babies, not just the regular kind. You can ask you doctor about it too.

When a child turns age 1 they can drink whole milk and come off of formula or breast milk. My daughter was lactose intolerant. We gave her lactaid 100% whole milk. Your growing baby needs the fat from the milk that he or she will not get from rice and soy milks. The fat content helps brain and muscle development.
I strongly suggest trying the lactaid brand milk, or you can even buy whole milk and put the lactaid drops in each serving.
Good luck !!
