Anyone can contract genital herpes. It doesn't affect a particular group of people more than another group.
Abstinence is the only thing that is 100% effective. Using condoms and safe sex practices HELPS, but is not 100% effective. Things can happen, such as a condom breaking. Even people who use condoms and practice safe sex can still contract the virus. Genital herpes is an STD that can be spread by DIRECT skin to skin contact. So, even if the guy is wearing a condom, it is only covering his penis and not the whole genital area. Just the rubbing back and forth of the genital area during sex can spread the virus, even if a condom is used.

It's my understanding that women are more susceptable to genital herpes than men. But of course both sexes can get it.
Everyone is at risk for oral herpes which can be spread from sharing a glass with someone, kissing, etc. Genital herpes can not be spread this way. Oral herpes can also be spread to the genitals through oral sex even when no sores are present. And genital herpes can be spread to the mouth.
If you don't know your partners sexual history (which you should but you can never be 100% sure unless you see someone's test results) you should always use condoms for intercourse as well as oral sex.

I don't think any one person or group of people has a higher chance of contracting herpes. It is not genetic, it is sexually transmitted. Your chance of getting herpes would only depend on taking responsibility for your own sexuality: 1. Do you know the sexual history of your partner(s)? 2. Do you use protection (both condoms and dental dams)

Yes, those who have unprotected sex with people who have herpes. You see, i'm one of the rare ones who'll never have it because I don't allow myself to be exposed to it.
