Fibrosis....the tiny particle fibers attach themselves to the
linings of your lungs....your bodies natural anti-body cells
cannot attack and dispel them as they are not organic but synthetic. They will stick with you for quite a while and depending the amount or severity of exposure, could cause
COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disorder ).

Absolutely! Always, always, always wear personal protective equipment such as a mask. Fiberglass is not water soluble and the only way to remove it from the lungs is to cough it out (not likely) or to have it cut out. It is extreme irritating, as is dust, and can over time lead to fibrotic lung disease which is very painful. Fibrosis, which is a thickening of the lung tissues inhibits oxygen transmission across the membrane into the blood system causing a cascade effect. This stresses the entire body. A person eventually suffocates. Very unpleasant.

Absolutely, you should be wearing a respirator, goggles, and coveralls. There is a possibility of serious lung damage. Your employer should be providing this safety equipment.
If he isn't you can file a complaint with OSHA (USA) or whatever the agency is called in your country.
If you are doing this to yourself buy the equipment I mentioned

Yes, you will be breathing in fiberglass so please wear a mask over your nose and mouth at all times. Fiberglass will also make you itch. Cover as much of your body as possible while working around it.

Absolutely ! The fibers get in your lungs and clog them. Workers in that type of environment should be using respirators...not those funky filter paper things, the full respirators.
