I'm a professional athlete living in a rather cold country, so I often have a sore throat and find it hard to talk, just like you.
What I always use (and it really makes wonders to me) is melted sugar (caramel) with milk.
How to prepare:
Put some sugar (about 3 little spoons for 0.25 liter of milk) and watch it closely. It will start to melt, start becoming brown. You will need to stir it all the time so it won't burn completely and stick. After some time it will completely be melted, actually become caramel. You must not 'over-do' it. At the moment when it will be completely melted, nice brownish color, just before it actually starts to boil, you put the milk. Now that will make a rather 'bursting' reaction, as the caramel will instantly 'freeze'. Don't worry about it. Just leave the whole thing getting warmer and warmer. The 'frozen' caramel will eventually melt again, just before the milk starts to boil. That's when you know it's finished. Now enjoy you 'caramel milk'. It's very nice! Best if you drink it, very warm. You could also drink it every few hours.
You could always go to the farmacy and ask for a medicine, but I prefer this home made stuff :)
Hope it helps.

Tea, lemon and honey works. So does the warm salt water gargle, but if you do decide to go in to work, make sure you take along some lozenges or keep some hard candy always within reach, that will help your throat from drying out too much and keep some of the coughing at bay, especially since your work entails talking on the phone!

The most probable cause of your voice loss is LARYNGITIS. It is a condition where the vocal cords - the structure in our throats that vibrates and produces the sound of our voice - gets inflamed either due to infections - as what you most likely have, or simply because they were (the vocal chords) became severely strained due to excessive use of the voice, as in singers, auctioneers, radio DJ, and rodeo clowns - yes even in cheering and hooting for your fave team. You need to rest that voice and avoid talking for this condition to abate. You can also consult an E.N.T. doctor for further evaluation and treatment.

You really should rest, but many home remedies consist of hot tea, lemon, and honey. Over the counter things might help, like chloraseptic, or just try keeping your throat moist by drinking water. It may also help to keep your neck warm by using a scarf.

So sorry you're ill. I had the same thing and lost my voice for 2 weeks. I just had to croak through my phone calls at work and ask them to forgive me and bear with me.
