hi i would fill in the forms yourself with the worst case scenario, you dont need to be reassessed by the doctor they just have to make a statement on the back and sign it,at the end of the day they dont no the problems you experience at home behind closed doors.my son is 4 with a heart defect he gets high rate dla and mobility as he suffers breathlessness through his condition so cannot walk far as you both are for life so dont see why you wouldnt be entitled, dont think your wasting peoples time thats what they are there for.hope this helps.

Hi! Sorry to hear of your health problems. You could try for a higher rate DLA but I would guess they might argue that pleurisy is an acute condition so not ongoing although you have problems already. If you do try for a higher rate, it's form filling again I'm afraid in which case, you have to put down the worst case scenario for how your health is affected at the moment. A GP would have to reassess you & they might suggest that your current difficulties are transitory. Don't want to put you off but it is harder to get a higher rate but possibly worth a try. The worst thing that can happen is that you don't get awarded it. Good luck with your health.

yes under the rules you are entitled to the higher rate of dla and also high rate of moterbilty allowance
i suggest that you see a local solicitor who specialise in benefit clams
they allways try to make it as hard as possible to claim your right level of allowance
due to the amount of fraud thats why i say go to solicitor who deals in befit cases
hope you have the best of luck
and get what your entitled to my friend

A higher rate is not easy to get, and the form is quite complicated to fill out. Go to the Citizen's advice bureau and ask them to help you to fill it out.
After getting turned down, that's what I did...and it worked.
Good luck.
