I have had UTIs and the way I get rid of them is drinking nothing but cranberry juice and water for a full day. By the next day, I'm feeling 100 percent better. Cranberry is a wonderful thing. Good luck!

If you are someone who gets regular UTI's you can use cranberry pills to help prevent future infections rather than cure once you have one.
If you feel the discomfort at the start of an infection you might be able to prevent it getting worse by drinking 3 pints of water within an hour. It is a lot but believe me it helps. Then continue to drink lots of water, cranberry juice and also lemon barley water. I have also been told that drinking a glass of cranberry juice before bed is good as it sits in the bladder and has more effect on the ph of urine.
If you are suffering an infection already do the above but also see a doctor as anti-biotics will get rid ofit. Remenber to continue to drink all the liquids too.
A cranberry pill a day as well as generally increasing the water and cranberry juice you drink will help prevent future infections. There are also other things you can do. Make sure you wash with soap free cleaner, keep clean and pee after sex. Sounds like a weird tip but my doctor reccomended it and I have to say it has helped.
Good luck and try everything and you will find what works for you.

There is no prescription dosage for cranberry pills for UTI. There are only a few studies to support that they even work. They do work for one class of bacteria, but unless your doctor cultures your urine (or has several times before, and the bacteria has always been the same, and this particular one), then you have no way to know that you are treating the infection properly.
Follow the instructions provided by the pill manufacturer.
Antibiotics are the only proven way to cure a UTI.
If you develop fever, blood in the urine, or low back pain then you could have a kidney infection (pyelonephritis). This is extremely serious. Get thee to a doctor. Good luck.
