A tongue in cheek t shirt party. All if the guests have to wear a slightly suggestiveT shirt. (My favorite are the ones with a double entendre) Everyone knows that T shirts pair best with jeans. Jeans are casual. Provide plenty of beverages and snack food. Viola! You will have plenty to talk and laugh at as each person's shirt is a potential conversation starter.

Years ago I planned a surprise party for my boyfriends 30th. Poolside, a keg, casual, everyone brought salads and I BBq'd tri-tips. It was a large yard and out in the country, so some camped out...it was a blast! I made a big posterboard with pictures of him as a baby , leading all the way til his 29th...accomplishments as well. he adored that. Good luck...

Talk to his mom and get lots of embarrassing pictures of him from back in the day. Have the best and most comical picture airbrushed on his cake (most places to that now) and use the rest as decorations. Also, have your guests bring pictures of themselves from 30 years ago or from when they were 30 years old, depending on the age of your crowd. You can also have everyone bring a gag gift (geratol, prune juice, preparation H, depends briefs, etc) to make a great big gift basket for him. They can all give you their gifts to add to the basket secretly as they arrive or individually wrap them and just give them that way. Also, you need to have music and movies from that era. Have fun.

I am sure if you talk to a local nursing home, they would love for you to use their facility to throw the party. It would be an event the nursing home residents would enjoy, and would have a humurous twist for your 30 year old husband!

I really like Kick It's advice. My guy hates parties, though. I'd take him and good friends to the racetrack or where ever he's always begging to go.

Make it a surprise and invite people he hasn't seen in awhile. As long as you serve great food and drinks no one will notice if the party is a bust.
