My eight year old daughter came home from school today and told me that she has a sore on her "bottom". (that's what she calls her vagina) Even though she was embarrassed she wanted me to see it. It is a sore about 1/4 the size of a dime and it is open and raw looking. She said it hurts. I can't remember anything like this ever happening to me as a child or as an adult. When I try to look up different causes of sores on vaginas I only find STDs. When she was 3 she was sexually abused while at a daycare. She was tested at that time for STDs and everything came back fine. Is it possible that this could be Herpes or some other STD? It was 5 years ago. Even though she was tested can something just now be showing up? I hope and pray she is ok and that this is something common that I've just never had to deal with. What do you think?

Have any other women had this happen to them without any problems or disease stemming from it?

ant type of disease can stay dormant for years. herpes is the biggest thing that comes to mind. no i never had anything lik ethat happen to me or to any young girl in my family. I would get her tested asap. it could be many of things. Maybe she touched herself with dirty hands. it is a sensative area. I will hope and pray for both of u because noone boy or girl should be taken advantage like that at any age. I would atke her to the doctor and be as supportive to her a syou can. she is still young and confuses.

Even though she was tested, herpes can lay dormat for many years, that's a possibility. The other possibility is she could have rubbed a raw spot from tight clothing, riding a bike?
You definitely need to go to the doctor and have it cultured to see what it is, thats the only way to tell.
Good luck!
