Well I'm not a vegetarian or a vegan, but I'll do my best.
1. It isn't as unhealthy as you think. There are plenty of ways to get adequate proteins from a vegan diet. I'm sure you will struggle with not eating what you're used to at first. Most vegan meals are an acquired taste, so stick to it.
2. You're saving bunnies! People often criticize vegans for hypocrisy since there is no way they can guarantee that the combines that harvest food didn't kill small field-dwelling animals, or that bone meal wasn't used to plant those vegetables you ate for lunch. The way I see it, at least their doing SOMETHING for something they believe in. So don't be a jerk and bash them.
3. Stronger immune system, lower risk of cancer. I guess animal proteins contribute to cancer. Also under this category we can mention the fact that I've never seen a fat vegan.
So there you have it!
I looooove meat, and I couldn't possibly give it up. But good for you if you can! It isn't for me, but I certainly respect your decision!

Great answer Max Marie. She's right .Meat
isn't murderI.It's genocide.
Here are my main reasons for I why I became
vegan:
1. Fish farming is destroying the ecological
integrity of the waters.
2. Way too many females are killed after being
pimped for their milk and eggs.
3. As an African American it's total hypocrisy to
look at animals in cramped, uncleanly, slave-
like conditions, turn a blind eye and patronize
a cruel machine like system that exploits them.
How did I go vegan. Gradually over a two year
period I weened myself away from flesh .
I started using vegetarian cookbooks. I became
vegan 2 years ago by finding replacements for all
the foods I felt I would miss. I.E. soy delicious-
for ice cream, vegan rella and Chreese for
cheese, portabella mushrooms for meat
texture, etc.
I gradually replaced all my leather, wool,
etc. with clothes made from organic poly-mers.
Soaps, toiletries, etc. that are cruelty free
were found in natural food stores or online.

1.) Because drinking milk creates a constant stream of baby cows who will be chained to the ground for veal, and creates female cows who, after being abused and violated for a few years, will be slaughtered for beef.
2.) Because the chickens who produce eggs are locked in, several to a cage for their entire lives, unable to spread a wing, accidentally slicing each other to shreds, marinating in their own urine and deification, with broken bones and surgery done without anesthetic until they are ready to be slaughtered for chicken meat.
3.) Because sheep are tortured, skinned and killed for wool, silk worms are boiled alive for silk, and wearing someone's skin is pretty darned creepy.
Good Luck
Yes, the animal-product industry is directly locked into the slaughter industry. But remember that veganism takes time. Drop something from your diet or lifestyle, when you are ready, drop another. It takes many people well over a decade to make the full transition. I know I am still on the path. I don't like when I do contribute to animal suffering, but I know that a slow and steady pace is what will work best for me and help me stick to the lifestyle I have chosen.
Be proud of where you are now, and go further as you can.

1. Animals are being tortured
2. Your Health
3. Lose Weight
It wasnt hard for me, i never really liked meat, and there are plenty of fake dairy products that are just as good as the real stuff. i was a vegetarian for a while and one night i saw an interview with a guy in my favorite band, he is vegan and he told a story that broke my heart, it was about a fish, anyway, after that i went on a website and saw some videos of what happens to animals and that was it for me, thats all it took. anytime i feel like i miss the food or clothes i just get online and watch that stuff and it reminds me of how important it is that im vegan. this website is really good, don't judge it by its name :)

Good answer, Dash! Well said for a meat eater.
1) Health. I'd been vegetarian for years. While my health improved a TON, it got SO much better when I went vegan for Lent last year. I'm not a big milk drinker. Never have been. But I did eat quite a bit of cheese and eggs.
2) Factory farming is the number one global problem we have. It contributes to poverty, racism, hunger, water shortages, pollution, acid rain, global destruction of our resources, streams, rivers, land - basically the entire planet over all.
3) Mass slaughter of innocent creatures. Factory farming is so industrialized it's no loss for them to let 10 percent of the animals die rather than get them medical treatment. 10 percent doesn't sound like much. But we slaughter almost twice the entire population of the earth in animals in the US alone yearly.
Over 12 billion animals a year. So 10% is the equivalent of killing everyone in Australia each year.
Can you say holocaust?

im vegetarian but i know some vegans they told me that either they didnt like how dairy cows and egg hens were treated soo much that they became vegan or they didnt like the taste of "cow juice" something i have to say is that if your reason is #1 then there is milk you can get that lets their cows go in open pasture just like a family farm and same with egg hens, those are the products i buy.

Too add on to the list...
3 non-self reasons to go veg:
Starving people: the food growing in their countries are being used to feed the livestock instead of themselves
Animal suffering: Animals suffer while they are living and while they are slaughtered
Environment: Earth is heading for destruction, a veg diet slows that
Here are 101 reasons to go veg
http://www.flex.com/~jai/articles/101.html
How to do it: Drop meat, then dairy and eggs, drop animal products in lifestyle.

i'm a vegan, and this is why i turned vegan-
1.i couldn't eat meat. i mean i could, but every time i used to like when i was like 8 i always picture a cow on a bun instead of a "burger".
2. when you drink milk, you're pretty much drinking cow piss.
3. how could you eat an animal? thats gross!
