Anyone involved with someone who is HIV positive?

Hey, kinda wierd question but is anyone here currently/ previously dating or married to anyone who has HIV. Cause right now I know someone who jsut told me they are and I still really like him and I'm not just going to abandon him because of one detail. It's still really fricken hard to cope with, so does any one have any advice or suggestions/ precautions I should know about.
( p.s if it matters we haven't had sex yet so theres no issue with me getting it from him)

Feel free to tell a huge long story I promise ill read each and every one, and no smartass answers either cause right now I don't think I could take it.

I have had 2 bf with HIV. We had lots of sex, but we were extra careful using rubbers and all. I think because we were more careful and slow with things, it was a lot more intimate. and the cuddle factor was fantastic. and I am not HIV positive. Just got results again for the annual checkup yesterday.

I personally have not, but wanted to answer.

How wonderful of you to not shame him for this. I would talk to a doctor before taking advise from people on here, as this is your life & health we are talking about. Really.

There are some ways you can try to prevent getting it but long periods of sexual intercourse with an HIV postive person chance are you might contract it.

Also you can try HIV forums online and such. There you might be able to speak with many people who deal with it everyday. Im sorry i dont have any to suggest.

i had a bf who has full blown aids, we had sex but we were careful, i get checked every year and I'm not infected, it was very smart of this person to tell you because about 75% of people who are infected don't tell their lovers. just always remember you will never be able to have children with this person.
