I will be having a make-your-own sushi and tempura party this week. It's only ladies...so I want to cater to their tastebuds.

I need some suggestions on wines good with sushi, good sake (do women like sake?), and anything else I could serve...any traditional or nontraditional mixed drinks to serve? I have ladies that are looking for a good chance to drink a lot, so I'd appreciate the help.

Thanks for your answers!

Any Sake should be fine, just make sure you heat it up. It should be served warm.

I would also consider a wine like a Riesling or Gewurztraminer. I love those with asian food. Beer goes well with sushi, but that probably won't appeal to women.

Rum and cokes would be nice also.

Of course Japanese beer and Sake would be the traditional accompaniments, but Midori sours would be awesome, and/or Mai Tais:

For one Midori Sour:

2 oz Midori® melon liqueur
6 - 8 oz sweet and sour mix
1/2 tsp sugar
ice

Mix all ingredients in a blender with enough ice to freeze. Serve in a tall glass with a lime twist garnish.

Mai Tais

My recipe? I get some bottles of the Trader Vic's Mai Tai mix and follow its directions. I think you use rum and fresh lime juice in addition to it.

Mmmm...enjoy!

Any white wine will do but if your going to drink excessively don't get a cheap wine. Also any rum drink mixed is good

if you would normally go to a favorite sushi bar instead of staying home, call the restaurant and ask the bartendar what he/she suggests. Either that or just go to your local wine store and ask them. and yes, women like sake! Good luck, sounds like a fun girls night, thanks for the idea!

sake or plum wine, tsingtao (beer) or sapporo (also beer). sapporo is a light japanese (i believe) lager. it's super good. how about doing some fancy flavored martinis? the mixers are cheap and easy, just add booze!
